Derek Lim Soo
Chief Executive Officer
Derek is a high energy executive that possesses over fifteen years of business experience in the Cleantech/Energy sector. He has held various senior leadership roles encompassing business development, capital raise strategies, mergers and acquisitions, technology development and overall executive management.
Prior to founding Peak Power, Derek was Senior Vice President at AGI and Vice President for Canada for Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation. Derek has also served as Global Vice President for a solar technology company - Stirling Energy Systems, a private equity backed portfolio company that was funded by a $300M investment by NTR PLC. Prior to SES, Derek worked for the General Electric Company in numerous senior sales roles, and held various senior positions across GE's energy business.
Vice President - Software
Benson has 20 years of experience in software development and services. As the former Department Manager at UMPay, he led the team to be the 3rd largest mobile payment company in China with transaction volume of over 250 M RMB per month. He grew and managed a team of over 60 software developers, designers, risk management and sales specialists to handle transactions with thousands of large corporations and financial institutions, including Bank of China, Western Union, ICBC, and more.
Benson also holds a Master Degree in Signal & Information Processing – Artificial Intelligence.
Chief Operating Officer
Matthew has fifteen years of technical experience in the energy and real estate development sectors. He has held numerous senior roles from an energy consultant, where he evaluated renewable energy technologies for utilities and government programs to a property developer, where he oversaw the construction of over 1,500 energy efficient homes for over $550M in revenue.
Prior to joining Peak Power, Matthew was General Manager of Urbandale Construction, a leading Ottawa homebuilder specializing in energy efficient homes. Matthew also served as Vice-Chair of the R-2000 Renewal Committee (2009-2014) and a Member of the Energy Star Technical Advisory Committee (2011-2014). Matthew is a nationally recognized expert in energy efficiency in buildings and was recognized by the Ottawa Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award in 2013.
Vice President - Product Development & Finance
Yi was the former manager of project finance at SunEdision where he was responsible for over $1 Billion worth of structured finance for both utility and distributed generation solar projects in Canada and the U.S.
Yi drove the deal structuring, execution and negotiation of the material project agreements. He managed the due diligence process from financial, technical, tax, and legal perspectives.
David possesses over 25 years of development experience specializing in strategic sales, marketing and business development with a demonstrated track record of significant accomplishments in long-term customer/vendor relationships leading to wind turbine sales, successful project development and financings. David was previously Vice President of Business Development of Suzlon where he led all sales and marketing in North America
Scot is the Vice President of Colliers International, and previously served as the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. Scott is an experienced IT and Operations professional with more than 35 years in the real estate industry working in both Canada and the US. He possesses extensive experience implementing advanced technologies in government crown and NYSE traded real estate corporations.
Dick has over 20 years of experience in the power and energy industry and advised and been involved with more than 250 MW of Microgrid applications throughout his career. Prior to founding PARGEN, Dick was Chief Operating Officer of Commonwealth Energy Corporation, one of the nation’s largest independent Energy Service Providers in the United States.
